Description

The designs of Nell Hall Williams, whose daughters operated Hall's Home Cooking, can be seen as typical of Rehoboth. Though most of her possessions—and all but four of her quilts—were destroyed in a house fire, what survives reveals her bold approach. She has not been afraid to use shiny fabric: in this strip quilt, red and brown bars made of silk garment linings stagger against one another like casually laid bricks.
