In 1997, Dinah Young erected this burial marker for "a dead armadillo the dogs dragged home," and subsequently modified the work as she buried other animals there. Young declines to explain the temporary, enigmatic creations she places in the fields around her home and in the deserted African American cemetery that borders her Alabama property.
